music classesWith reggae and techno blaring out of so many beach bars, you'd be forgiven for thinking Goa's music and dance scene started with the invention of the synthesizer. However, Goa boasts of a vibrant musical tradition of it's own; a blend of east and west that is as spicy and distinctive as it's cuisine.

You won't hear the calypso-like rhythms of Konkani pop at the full-moon parties. Rooted in village and religious life, Goan music is primarily for domestic consumption, played at feasts, festivals, harvest celebrations, as an accompaniment to popular theater, and, most noticeably, on the crackly players of local buses and taverns.
