PANAJI: In its efforts to rejuvenate the party, MaharashtrawadiGomantak Party (MGP) president Pandurang 'Deepak' Dhavalikar said that some amendments to the party's constitution were adopted on Saturday.

Through the amendments, the 50-year-old party, is giving more powers to active members in the organisational set up. The active political members will get representation in the working committee and annual general body and a representative each from the block level committees would be part of the central committee, he said.

Formed after Goa's Liberation, MGP won the first few elections in the post-liberation era before it was defeated by the Congress. It however had lost the battle for merging Goa into Maharashtra.
