PANAJI: As a fallout of the controversy created by bouncers at a recent film shoot in Panaji and the subsequent allegations by line producers of extortion, the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) has decided to ban all film shoots in the city till the CCP council decides on the issue.

PANAJI: The government's continued interference with the Corporation of the city of Panaji's (CCP) functioning has irked city mayor Surendra Furtado.

PANAJI: In a blow to the Corporation of the city of Panaji (CCP) bid to increase revenue, the government has suspended the decision of the CCP standing committee to revise the fees for issue of birth and death certificates.

PANAJI: It appears that the BJP-led government hasn't taken too kindly to the parivartan in the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP). Panaji mayor Surendra Furtado on Friday stated that the state BJP government was deliberately creating hurdles for his administration and not cooperating with CCP. "This government is trying to sabotage me. They have not yet released funds amounting to Rs 1 cr to contractors for works undertaken," Furtado said.

PANAJI: Despite chief minister Manohar Parrikar stating in his 2012 Budget that e-governance and IT would be given a renewed thrust with departments undertaking an IT initiate every few months, it seems this is not being taken seriously with even simple tasks like updating of websites not being undertaken.

PANAJI: The state government is yet to revert to the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) on whether former mayor Vaidehi Naik will continue to hold office till the next mayoral election is held.

CCP asks govt on Vaidehi's status

PANAJI: The Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) on Thursday wrote to the state government asking for a clarification on the status of former mayor Vaidehi Naik.

 

PANAJI: The Miramar corporator, Mr Surendra Furtado, has alleged that the opposition camp in their lust for securing power of Corporation of City of Panaji are indulging in undemocratic and illegal acts of intimidating his supporting corporators by instilling fear in their minds.
