PANAJI: The high court of Bombay at Goa issued a notice to the state government on a petition filed by social activist Aires Rodrigues challenging the selection of journalist Sandesh Prabhudessai as state information commissioner (SIC).
The high court has adjourned the matter to August 20 while also directing Prabhudessai to reply in the matter. In his petition, Rodrigues has sought that the selection of Prabhudesai be revoked and that the government be restrained from appointing him as SIC.
Pointing out that the Goa state information commission had been constituted and notified with one chief information commissioner and one state information commissioner, Rodrigues submitted that the selection of a second SIC was illegal.
