Goa government resorts to market borrowings

PANAJI: The Goa government is going in for a borrowing of Rs 200 crore from the market.

PANAJI: While the Goa BJP government has notified the Goa (right of citizens to time-bound delivery of public services) act, 2013, the act will come into force only once the rules are framed. This is presently underway.

PANAJI: The Goa government will contribute 5 crore towards the rehabilitation of disaster-struck Uttarakhand and hopes to ultimately raise between 15 crore to 20 crore from public donations, chief minister Manohar Parrikar said on Monday.

PANAJI: Marathi Rajbhasha Andolan (MRA), an association that came into being to support the demand to give Marathi the status of an official language, has criticized the state government's decision to form a parallel Marathi academy. The MRA has alleged that it is the government's stance to divert the attention of the people from the real issue.

Casino ship not a hazard: Kanda's firm

PANAJI: Former Haryana home minister Gopal Kanda's company Golden Globe Hotels , that owns the M V Leela casino ship, has sought joint inspection of the vessel and said it is not a hazard.

Govt issues notifications of key amendments

PANJIM: In a slew of notifications issued Thursday, State government has made amendments to the Goa Land Revenue Code Act, 2013, Lokayukta Act, the Goa Value Added Tax, and Goa Land (Prohibition on Construction) Act, among others.

PANAJI: The students and faculty at Goa institute of management (GIM) are assisting the Goa government to better its disaster management plan for the villages, improve the yield of its crops, look for a bigger market for products of its self-help groups and even get its logistics system right.

PANAJI: The state government on Friday proposed a buffer zone of up to 1 km around wildlife sanctuaries (WLS) and national parks (NP) in the state. It submitted details of its proposal of Ecologically Sensitive Zones (ESZ) to the Union ministry of environment and forests (MoEF).

PANAJI: The department of sports and youth affairs has been granted a period of eight weeks more to raze the illegal compound wall built at a cost of 1.5 crore within the CRZ area at Non Mon in Vasco.
