PANAJI: Stating that the BJP government had "failed miserably on all fronts" in its first year in office, the NCP today lashed out at the state government on a host of issues concerning Goa.

PANAJI: Goa cast it's first salvo in the Tillari agitation issue with state chief minister Manohar Parrikar terming the ongoing protest inside the canal a "political one; made political by some people in Maharashtra". He has urged the "Maharashtra government to control its people".

'State-Centre must unite, resume mining'

PANAJI: Even though political parties in the state restrained from finding fault with the Supreme Court (SC)'s Central Empowered Committee's (CEC) interim report on illegal mining in Goa, they reiterated their demand for the resumption of mining at the earliest.

Yuri Alemao gets NCP's Sanguem ticket

The fourth Alemao, urban development minister Joaquim Alemao's son Yuri, on Thursday also won a ticket to contest the March assembly elections in Goa albeit on the NCP ticket.

The mining scam, which had rocked the state for two years, has suddenly disappeared from political consciousness.

The NCP will contest in seven assembly constituencies in Goa since the Congress on Saturday agreed to give its alliance partner one more seat than it did at the previous assembly election.
