MARGAO: Valanka Alemao surpassed the odds stacked against her candidature by winning the state Youth Congress president polls to script a significant comeback after her defeat at the March 2012 assembly elections. Alemao, who went about her campaign with a guarded silence, aware of how her electoral battle to the same post had prematurely ended in 2011 when she was disqualified at the eleventh hour, won Sunday's elections by a margin of 168 votes.
