It is believed that several temples were built by the Kadamba dynasty but the invaders attacked them and demolished them. But the Shiva temple of Tambdi Surla survived due to its location. It is located inside a dense forest where trees, animals, birds and insects are only accompanying the temple. You will find no shop near the temple.
